Kobuk Valley National Park is open year round. The majority of park visitors come in August.
Kobuk Valley National Park is north of the Arctic Circle, nestled between the Baird and Waring Mountains. The park encompasses the central section of the 125 mile Kobuk River and the Kobuk Sand Dunes.
Kobuk Valley National Park has some amazing sights and wonderful opportunities for backcountry camping and hiking. Activities to consider while here but are not limited to: backpacking, boating, camping, fishing, photography, star gazing and wildlife observation.
There are no facilities or amenities in Kobuk Valley National Park. The Kotzebue Public Lands Information Center is an interagency information center located in Kotzebue, AK that is open year-round but hours vary depending on the season.
Summer Hours
8:00 am to 5:00 pm - Mon - Fri - With some late evening and weekend hours.
Winter Hours
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm - Mon - Fri - mid October through 01 May - Closed on federal holidays.
